Martyn ‘hauls’ in a 7-3 win

The first game of the evening was Reid’s versus Martyn Haulage. Reid’s opened up the scoring with a goal from Will Pashko. Jason Cliff hit the mark, answering back for Martyn’s with just five minutes gone in the first period. In back and forth action, Tim Balson and Brent McMillen each chalked one up for Haulage, which was evened with two goals from Erik Hudson to tie the game at three. The game took a sharp turn in Martyn’s favour as Brent McMillen (two), Bob Hoogeveen and Dave Kemp continued the scoring to end the game. Martyn Haulage 7/Reid’s 3
Game two saw Bell Transport take on All Flags. Gerry Stevens, with help from Greg Langille, recorded the first goal of the game and the only goal of the period for Bell Transport. Gerry Stevens opened the second period as well with an unassisted goal, followed by Dan Lyons, who was assisted by Gerry Stevens, to give Bell Transport a commanding 3-0 lead. All Flags’ Mike Nash notched one with assists to Neill Hutton and Dave Lee and Dan Lyons and Gerry Stevens paired up to reply, making the score 4-1. Neill Hutton returned the favour for All Flags going into the final minutes of the third. All Flags pulled their goalie, and were able to score one (Scott Heard) but came just short of tying it up. Next, Phillips Petroleum squared off against Jim’s Excavating. In this barn-burner, Jim’s Excavating came out strong with goals by Jim Vernon, Gavin Cochrane and Anthony Duivestyn. Joe Jones responded with a goal for Phillips but was soon answered by Dave MacDonald of Jim’s. Chris Duff found the net for Phillips with a reply from Jim Vernon of Jim’s to bring the score to 5-2. The second frame was more intense with Justin Cole (Phillips) netting a goal and Jamie Lowe answering back for Jim’s. Lee Hoare closed out the second for Phillips with another goal and Jamie Lowe, with his second of game, made it 7-4 to give Jim’s a three-goal lead heading into the third. Phillips fought back scoring two - a beauty by Ted Cochrane and another by Justin Cole - to narrow the gap to 7-6. Phillips pulled their goalie, but it backfired. Mitch Truax scored on the empty net. Finally, Complete Mechanical went head to head with Strachan Contracting. Chris Orr and Dave Carnaghan scored two quick goals to give Strachan the early lead. Complete’s Deryk Campbell found the net for complete to end the first period 2-1 in Strachan’s favour. Pat Cochrane tied it up half way through the second, with the assist to Ryan Larmer. Deryk Campbell broke the tie and Sean O’Donoghue completed the period to make it 4-2 for Complete. Receiving the hat trick, Deryk Campbell notched another one, assisted by Scott LeForge.
