Jim’s fails to answer the Bell

This week’s action began with a game between Phillips Petroleum and Reid’s. Erik Hudson opened the scoring for Reid’s in the first, and was answered by Lee Hoare for Phillips. Chris Duff added a goal for Phillips to end the first. The second period closed with two more goals for the home team, giving Phillips a 4-1 lead going into the third. Joe Jones advanced Phillips once again and a response finally came from Reid’s Jason Bertrand to bring the score to 5-2. In a final attempt to even things up, Reid’s pulled their goalie but to no avail. Stellar goaltending by Luke Carnaghan helped Phillips win this one. Phillips Petroleum 5/Reid’s 2

Next, Bell Transport took on Jim’s Excavating. Dan Lyons lit up the scoreboard first for Bell and that lead advanced with a goal by Greg Langille to round out the period. The second frame saw Dan Lyons extend Bell’s lead to three with defenceman Gavin Cochrane finally answering for Jim’s. Guy Hache (Bell), Gavin Cochrane and Jim Vernon finished off the scoring for the second period to put Bell ahead by 4-3 heading into the third. The last period was uneventful. Jim’s pulled their goalie but were unable to take advantage of the extra man. Bell Transport 4/Jim’s Excavating 3.

Complete Mechanical’s Pat Cochrane opened up the scoring in the first minute of Game 3 against All Flags. Ian Shrigley quickly responded for All Flags to tie the game at one. Preston Denault gave Complete the lead going into the second. Less than a minute into the frame, Mike Nash tied the score again. Go-ahead goals by Rob Carr, Ian Shrigley and Mike Nash built up a 5-2 lead for All Flags. Pete Simms and Ryan Larmer replied for Complete in the third but they came up short. John Wotton notched one for All Flags to end the game. All Flags 6/Complete Mechanical 4

The fourth and final game was between Strachan Contracting and Martyn Haulage. The lone goal of the first period was scored by Brad Morton for Martyn. Strachan’s Derrick Anderson tied the score at one to start off the second period. Martyn countered with a goal each from Jason Cliff and Justin Demille. Gerard Timmers helped his cause by scoring for Strachan and Tim Balson answered with a goal of his own for Martyn to end the second, 4-2. The third saw Gerard Timmers and Craig Belfry score less than a minute apart to tie the score at four. Next, Strachan’s Darren Mulligan found the net just two minutes later with Jason Cliff notching his second for night to tie the game with only a minute left.

The overtime saw Martyn’s prevail when Justin Demille put the biscuit in the basket. Martyn Haulage 6/Strachan Contracting 5
