by Rik Davie/The Scugog Standard

Durham Regional Police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a Scugog man wanted in connection with a double shooting incident in Port Perry late yesterday (March 4).

Danny Nguyen, age 27, of Scugog St. in Port Perry, is wanted for the murder of Andrew Lee Shue, age 43, of Morningside Ave. in Toronto.

Nguyen is described as male, Asian, with a thin build, dark hair, brown eyes, 6’ tall, 140 lbs, and wears glasses.

According to DRPS, all three men in this incident were acquaintances and investigators do not believe this was a random act.

Nguyen is considered armed and dangerous and anyone who sees him is urged not to approach him, but rather contact police.

The 35-year-old man shot in the incident yesterday is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.

Sometime around 4:30 p.m. police, ambulance and fire were notified of an incident at 1769 Scugog St. (Hwy. 7A) just west of Crandle St. in Port Perry.

One man was discovered outside the home with at least one bullet wound and rushed to Lakeridge Health Port Perry and then on to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

After police surrounded the home and searched adjacent buildings, TAC Unit officers backed up by DRPS K-9 officers searched the home and found the body of a male who had reportedly been shot and killed.

The busy section of road was closed off by DRPS and OPP while forensic unit officers were called and homicide officers - with the assistance of North Durham Criminal Investigation Branch detectives - began a canvass of nearby homes for witnesses.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending identification and notification of next of kin. This is the third homicide of 2010 in Durham Region.

Anyone with new information about this ongoing investigation is asked to contact Det. Terry Haight of the DRPS Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5247. Anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.durhamcrimestoppers.ca and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
